Here are the results of the Trophées MacGeneration. Like previous years, we have two categories : Best of Show and “Developers and Innovation”.

Best of Show category

Best iPod companion : Kensington RDS FM Transmitter:
Best software : Micromat TechTool Pro
Best hardware product : Miglia TV MacBook Pro
Best Apple product : iMac 24″:

Developers and Innovation Category

Best User Interface : Elgato EyeTV 2

Jury’s explanation :
Nominating the “Best User Interface” wasn’t easy at first. Challengers came, with few exceptions, from many different fields and all wanted to impress with an appealing and intuitive interface. Crucial for the evaluation was the interface and the feel of use. We also put an emphasis on innovation and the integration with Mac OS X.

The first place goes to Elgato’s EyeTV. The TV software recently incorporated a full screen mode which sets a new standard. It is finally possible to watch tv on your mac while sitting on a sofa even though the Mac is connected to a TV set or flat screen. Navigating with the Apple remote through menus similar to Front Row is intuitive. With the electronic guide, TV recordings are easier to program than with many digital VCRs. The performance and the integration with Toast is exemplary. With Apple’s Movie Store only coming to Europe in 2007, EyeTV should not only shorten the wait for Mac user but beyond it, present an attractive alternative. (T. Weiss, Macnews.de)

Best use of Apple Technologies : IOSPIRIT Remote Buddy
Mentions spéciales à TrailRunner et Searchlight

Jury’s explanation :
These three sharewares are all trying to improve Apple technologies. It was very hard to take a decision between the first and the second. I decided to pick Remote Buddy, because the interface is really well-done.
(Lionel, MacBidouille)

Remote Buddy from IOSPIRIT takes the Apple remote that comes with most new Macs and makes it even more useful. The utility was useful before, but with Remote Buddy Preview 7, it gets even better. Now you can control your Mac using and Apple Remote, keyboard, a number of Bluetooth enabled mobile phones and other remote controls supported by the software. Also noteworthy is Remote Buddy’s virtual “Hotkey Remote”, which allows to control Remote Buddy via a keyboard or a Bluetooth enabled mobile capable of emulating a keyboard., and its support for other third party products such as Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba. It’s especially enticing right now as it’s being offered for $12.70 (half the normal price).

Best Freeware/Shareware : Aquafadas Pulp Motion

Jury’s explanation :
Pulp Motion from Aquafadas (http://www.pulpmotion.com/) is a fun shareware product that also has come productivity features. It’s makes it easy to make a fake newscast or create animations that can be moved to an iPod. It also integrates well with the iWeb component of iLife ‘06. The ability to make and send video postcards and screensavers can be used to promote your work, especially if you’re a small business owner who wants to make a light-hearted calling card. And the price is reasonable considering all the nifty features. (Dennis Sellers, MacsimumNews)

Best student product : Arizona Provoc

Jury’s explanation :
Provoc is a great software. With Provoc, learning vocabulary is no more a tedious work. During all the process, Provoc helps you to improve your knowledge. (Vincent Absous, MacGeneration)
